Background of Australian Kurds<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Kurds from Turkey began arriving in Australia in the 1960s, Kurds from Syria came from the late 1970s, and Kurds from Iraq and Iran in the early 1990s. Kurds have also come from Armenia, Georgia and Lebanon.<\/p>\n

In 2016 census, the number of people who identified as a Kurd in Australia was 10,528. Of these, 6,202 said they speak Kurdish at home.\u00a0 Most live in Melbourne and Sydney.
